“I would give body parts to have a guy write something like that for me. My kidney? Oh, both of them? Here, Nick, they’re yours-just write more for me. I’ll give you a start: boy in punk club asks strange girl to be his girlfriend for five minutes, girl kisses boy, boy kisses back, boy then meets girl-what did you notice about /this/ girl? Nick, let’s hear some lyrics. Please? Ready. Set. Go.”

– Norah, “Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist” by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

A Proposal!

So Valentine’s Day is just around the corner… Which usually mean that I’m hiding underneath my bed covers wishing it would just go away. Luckily this year, I’m throwing a party that celebrates love with friends and family- particularly for those who are currently single (link below).

While I may be single now, I know that special someone will come along. I’ll patiently wait. But as a heads-up to all the guys out there- the best way you could win me over is to write me a song. Here’s my top 20 songs (in no particular order) in my iTunes of the kind of songs boys could write for me:

1. “Grow Old With You” by Adam Sandler (The Wedding Singer Volume 2: More Music From The Motion Picture)
2. “No Myth” by Michael Penn (March)
3. “Just Wanna Be With You“, by Lucas Grabeel & Olesya Rulin (High School Musical 3: Senior Year)*
4. “It Had To Be You” by Motion City Soundtrack (Even if It Kills Me)
5. “Whatever My Love” by Mickey Drummond (iCarly)
6. “Crash Into Me” by Dave Matthews Band (Crash)
7. “Best Days” by Matt White (Best Days)
8. “Hey You” by Jimmy Robbins (Too Sorry for Apologies)**
9. “O.K. It’s Alright With Me” by Eric Hutcherson (Sounds Like This)
10. “Boy Meets Girl” by Evan Taubenfeld (Welcome To The Blacklist Club)
11. “Mario Kart Love Song” by Sam Hart (Mario Kart Love Song)
12. “Georgia On My Mind” by Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks (Ghost World)
13. “Ancient History” by Hawk Nelson (…Is My Friend!)
14. “Other Ways” by Trevor Hall (Shrek The Third)
15. “Always” by Switchfoot (Hello Hurricane)**
16. “Never Better Off Alone” by John Spengler (It Is Well)
17. “Somebody To Talk To” by This Providence (Who Are You Now?)
18. “Hey Ya” by Obadiah Parker (Obadiah Parker Live)
19. “Telegraph” by Drake Bell (Telegraph)
20. “Anyone Else But You” by Michael Cera & Ellen Page (Juno)

*Yes, only the Ryan & Kelsi part! And don’t be making fun of High School Musical! If you had written me a song, we would have ended up together like the two characters did.

**Or any song by that artist or Goo Goo Dolls
